چکیده

The Droblem of the abru~t change of the direction of a crack, DroDagating with high velocity, is studied in the resent work. The study is based on a unified ao~roach of the directional instability ~henomena, which accomDany running cracks. According to this ao~roach, the running ti^ is simulated by a reb branched configuration, consisted of two microcracks of arbitrary lengths and orientations. The final macrosco~ica77y observed result de~ends both on these, a oriori unknown, relative lengths and orientations of the two microcracks, and also on the stress 7eve7 and crack velocity.

We present a mechanistically faithful and mathematically sound approach to the numerical simulation of secondary thermal cracks propagation in EGS based on the variational approach to fracture [1-4]. While remaining compatible with classical theories, this approach provides a unified framework to crack nucleation, full path identification, including interaction between multiple cracks, branchin...

Cracks Analysis in Zavin Concrete Dam Using Fracture Mechanics Approach

Most of the existing concrete dams are subjected to cracking. These cracks are caused by various factors such as construction practices, curing, loads and volume change of mass concrete which reduce the efficiency, failure or instability of concrete dams. Using fracture mechanics as a new method to estimate stability and durability of concrete dams is recommended in scientific publications in w...

Thermo-mechanical analysis of fatigue cracks of diesel engines cylinder heads using a two-layer two-layer viscoplasticity model with considering viscosity effects

Loading conditions and complex geometry have led the cylinder heads to become the most challenging parts of diesel engines. One of the most important durability problems in diesel engines is due to the cracks valves bridge area. The purpose of this study is a thermo-mechanical analysis of cylinder heads of diesel engines using a two-layer viscoplasticity model. In this article, mechanical p...

Growth of Interfacial Cracks in Sandwich Beams

Debonding between core and facings is a common failure mode of sandwich structures that can severely damage the load-carrying capacity of the structure. The objective of this work is to study the effect of debonding in double cantilever beam specimens made of aluminum facings and PVC foam cores. The configuration follows the standard ASTM D5528-94a peel test. Four PVC foam core materials under ...
